One of my favorite reasons for living in Colorado is getting outside and being in nature. Spring is just around the corner, and hiking and camping season is almost upon us. There are some amazing and beautiful short and easy to moderate hikes very close by ~ Here are a few of my favorites close to the Golden area.
Diamond Lake /Forth of July Trail
Diamond Lake Trail is a 3 mile out and back trail located near Nederland, CO that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and mountain biking and is accessible from July until September.
Golden Gate Canyon State Park
Golden Gate Canyon State Park is located near Golden, Colorado and features beautiful wild flowers, dense forest, rocky peaks, and some amazing trails. The Golden Gate Canyon Loop is an 8.1 mile loop primarily used for camping, hiking & trail running and is accessible from May until October. There are also some amazing shorter hikes with epic views.
Maxwell Falls
Maxwell Falls Lower Trail is a 3.9 mile loop trail located near Evergreen, CO that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, trail running, camping, and horses and is accessible from March until October.
Hessie Trail
Hessie Trail is a 2.6 mile loop trail located near Nederland, CO that features a lake (Devils Thumb Lake). The trail is good for all skill levels and primarily used for hiking. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
